Francois Lavoie of Canada defeated two opponents in the stepladder finals of the V Brunswick Madrid Challenge on his way to his first title on the European Bowling Tour Sunday at Bowling Chamartín in Madrid, Spain.

Lavoie (right), PBA’s 2016 Rookie of the Year and the 2016 U.S. Open champion, defeated No. 1 seed, Markus Jansson (left) of Sweden in the title match, 236-216, to earn the 6.000 Euro top prize.

He is the first Canadian to win on the European Bowling Tour. Jansson got 3.000 Euro for second place.

In the opening match of the three-player shoot out, second seeded Lavoie ousted Francois Louw (right) of South Africa, 226-214. Louw, who won his first World Bowling Tour title in the 9th Kingdom International Open at the end of 2015, received 2.000 Euro for third place.
