Bowling World Open
World Bowling Tour Major event “Bowling World Open” has just been finished in Tokyo. The event is an important part of the promotion of our sport to be included in 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Great efforts have been done by Japan Bowling Congress together with their partners.
Players from all around the world were invited to the event. Winners were Osku Palermaa, Finland and Joey Yeo, Singapore.
Osku won the final against Japan’s Isao Yamamoto 248 – 224 and Singapore’s Joey won women’s final against Birgit Pöppler, Germany 207 – 204. Both winners received a 10 million Yen prize check (approx. 80.000 USD).
You find all results on http://www.jbc-bowling.or.jp/worldopen/?lang=en Vote for bowling The Wall Street Journal-Asia has instituted a poll through its blog section, allowing one to vote for one of the 8 Tokyo shortlist sports. Of course this poll is not decisive about our sport to be included in 2020 Tokyo Olympics but the result indicates the great interest for our sport compared to the other sports on the short list.
We recommend you to have a short notice with a link to the poll on your website encouraging your members to vote for bowling. Any efforts on your part to get your customers and members to vote for bowling would be greatly appreciated. Visit http://www.wsj.com/articles/BL-JRTB-20215 and vote for bowling in 2020 Olympics.
